Private Lentil pasta cooking class: Sicilian pulses in a local agricultural holding

0
  • Private experience
  • From 8 hours
  • Dec 1' - Mar 31'

Description

Lentil pasta is one of the traditional dishes mostly eaten in the past by humble people. But how most of the time happens, the poorest food always becomes the most delicious and this is what you will experience with this lentil pasta cooking class.

Surrounded by the quietness of Sicilian cultivation of citrus trees, we will prepare with the heat of the wood a typical dish with the legumes of “Terre di Santo Stefano” farm that we will slowly boil in a traditional terracotta pan called “pignata”.

Pending the cooking, we will discover together with the local farmer Nino, the highlights of the small village of Santo Stefano di Briga to then end the walking tour for lunchtime where we will taste the pulses with the pasta, fresh citrus and a good glass of wine.

Tasting lentil pasta

Starting from the established meeting point - that we will decide together, we will reach the small village of Santo Stefano di Briga and its countryside where the small agricultural holding “Terre di Santo Stefano” is.

Here we will meet the owner, Nino Crupi, and with him we are going to start the preparation of the lentil pasta, with pulses cultivated by Nino in his property. Nino will teach you the secrets of the preparation of the best lentil pasta, with the ancient traditional recipe.

While our lentil pasta is cooking we will walk around the historical center of Santo Stefano Briga, where we will visit the most important cultural monuments such as the ancient Church of San Rocco, a mill, and La Molinara shop where you can buy fresh pasta and local pulses grown in “Terre di Santo Stefano” estate.

At lunch time we will be back in the countryside, and finally we are going to taste our delicious lentil pasta. After lunch we can go back to the village to taste a unique gelato in the most ancient bar of the area, Bar De Stefano.
